#645  Lamp Box Post Box (PB05)

Item #: PB05

Descriptions: Standard Colored Postcard with perforated edge

Title: Lamp Box Post Box

Publisher: Singapore Philatelic Museum

Interesting Note: Lamp posting boxes were first used in 1896 in Singapore. Meant for areas where mail volume was low, these boxes were cheaper to install than the big, round pillar boxes. There were designed to attached to street lamps or telegraph poles, but were also found attached to their own poles and even set in walls.
